The Winnipeg Free Press thought that the recent death of a respected Crown prosecutor was a pefect opportunity to malign and defame him with impunity. They didn't anticipate that the vile effort would damage an innocent victim- one of their own. Katrina Clarke is listed on the FP website as an "investigative reporter." She hasn't made much of a mark at the paper, so when offered a juicy story, it looked irresistable . "... the late prosecutor is linked to five wrongful convictions involving eight men who collectively spent more than 100 years in prison for crimes they did not commit." read the story.  "... the cases have left a trail of various forms of misconduct — undisclosed evidence, a reliance on junk science and secret deals with Crown witnesses.   What do you do if you're a news reporter and the biggest story of the day, if not the election, falls right into your lap? Well, if you work for CBC Winnipeg, the answer appears to be 'news be damned' if it doesn't fit the narrative being promoted at the moment. The Black Rod happened to be on the scene when a deranged man smashed out the windows of a clearly marked CBC vehicle on Main Street in broad daylight Monday afternoon.  The female reporter cowered in the front seat, weeping while speaking to someone on her cell phone. The male camera man huddled in fear in the back seat as he, also, talked on his phone. Neither of the news crew was using their phone to capture video of the attack. The car was parked outside of Our Place/Chez Nous at 676 Main St. just south of Higgins.   A months-long campaign of intimidation to get a small-town mayor in Ontario to approve a housing development ended in 2010 when a federal auditor in the tax department was arrested for framing the mayor on a bogus allegation of tax evasion. Three years later, that auditor was about to go to trial when the intimidation of Mayor Marolyn Morrison of Caledon, Ontario, revved up again from a most unlikely source.  At the heart of the new pressure campaign was an Ontario provincial cabinet minister---Glen Murray.
