I Quit, said one of Mb's top doctors; A brutal assessment of the NDP's 6 months in office

Wab Kinew's NDP government received its first report card last week---and received a solid 'F'. This wasn't from the Opposition Tories or from one of the shill doctors associations that the NDP relied on to attack the Conservatives in power. This grading came right from the top echelon of the Manitoba health care system that's now under the control of the NDP. Dr. Eberhard Renner was head of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Manitoba and the provincial specialty lead for Shared Health. He recently resigned from both roles. Then he retired.   Last week the Winnipeg Free Press carried a opinion piece by him explaining why he's taken such a drastic move. The explanation was explosive! But the NDP cheerleaders in the mainstream media have done their best to bury it. We believe that his critique should be shouted from the rooftops. Dr. Renner started by stating his credentials. "I have been a physician for over 40 years. I started out as a...

A Winnipeg scientist's belligerent attempt to defend mandatory masking backfires badly

Oops. While trying to slap down a group of clergymen challenging in court the province's shutdown of church services, a Winnipeg sciiiiientist has inadvertently proven that the science behind the mandatory mask order is bogus.  The Science Emperor has no clothes. In a letter to the editor of the Winnipeg Free Press, Dr. Peter Zahradka wrote : A significant part of their argument is that the science is not being referenced as part of the action taken by the province on the advice of the chief public-health officer. It seems like the main objection is contained within these few statements: “Show us the science. And if the science is there, maybe there will be fewer conflicts.” Challenging science? What odious effrontery. Zahradka concluded his letter with this sneering comment: "There is no reason not to produce the evidence for those who do not know how to search the medical literature to find it — which, surprisingly, seems to include the lawyers involved in this case."...

Tory Whip joins the Idle mob to silence an uncooperative journalist

Well, well, well....Progressive Conservative MLA Mavis Taillieu has picked up her pitchfork and torch and joined the mob trying to silence the editor of the Morris Mirror. Taillieu, who is usually invisible on every other issue under the sun, wants to be sure to be seen to be in the front ranks of those eager to stifle a journalist's right to fair comment on a controversial issue in the community. Free speech? Freedom of expression? Freedom of belief? What fool thinks that crap up ? Certainly not the caucus whip of the P.C. Party of Manitoba. She has pulled her political advertising from the newspaper because Mirror editor Reed Turcotte has refused to kowtow to the intimidation tactics of the Idle No More crowd. You know, the people who are loudly demanding their, er, constitutional rights. What did Turcotte do to stir up the mob? He offered his honest opinion on the extremists in their bunch, and printed the inconvenient truth of their "move...

Thank the NDP for the gouging of Winnipeg football fans.

Did you read that? The revelations by Garth Buchko, CEO of the Winnipeg Blue Gougers, in Thursday's Winnipeg Free Press were stunning, even as they sailed over the heads of news reporters and sports pundits alike. Equally stunning was the extent to which the newspaper went to avoid naming the people responsible for the food-and-beverage fiasco that's come to define the predatory attitude of the Winnipeg football club towards its fans. But let's start with the bombs dropped by Buchko: * the team is crippled by debt, and a hairsbreadth from bankruptcy * the board of directors has executed a silent coup , seizing total control of the football club and turning it into a quasi-private operation  * the harsh no-food, no-drink policy that treats all fans like chiselers was forced on the club by the need to pay off the onerous debt imposed the team by the provincial government as its alleged share of the cost of the new stadium Whew. ...

The University of Manitoba's library boondoggle

Whoops. This just in from the Department of Your Tax Dollars At Work... Hot on the heels of the head chopping at Red River College over the turmoil caused by delays in the Union Bank renos (* see link below ), comes this tidbit about another institute of higher l'arning. It seems the University of Manitoba is doing some deep thinking about a little reno of their own. Or is that a re-reno ? The University had been routinely filling up a newly-built storage annex behind the Dafoe Library when they noticed a little problem--- they had so much stuff the floor was at risk of collapsing from the weight. The annex, built at a cost of $3.3 million, is a warehouse-like building that stores journals and books that aren't used much during the year. But obviously it isn't light reading. A little birdie tells us somebody goofed on the metric/imperial and weight calculations. So guess what? They're moving everything out so a new bunch of workmen can come in and re...
